Small piecemeal changes in health policy will not help our broken system. Paradigm shifting changes are need:
Hospitals to publicly display the results of their scores and ratings for measures in which they are evaluated for
Caps on executive salaries
Updating medical school licensing requirements to include more nutrition education
Saving costs by increasing care and coverage instead of reducing it
Give more mental health benefits to better manage chronic disease and ultimately lower costs
Regulate pharmaceutical costs
Regulate how much managed care plans can profit from their contracts paid by taxpayers
Consumers need to be more informed
Sick people have a right to a doctor - Healthy people have a right to a doctor
Everyone counts - Everyone matters
